Fresh Fish on a Coconut Grill!
There are many things I miss about Aceh, which was my home for nearly two years. It is a wonderful place. But today I keep thinking about grilled fish. There's a place in Banda Aceh where you pick out a freshly-caught fish that they grill on the spot, using dried coconut husks. It doesn't matter which kind of fish you pick, it is always delicious. In Indonesian, it's called Ikan Bakar. They serve it with rice, vegetables and a spicy sauce. I like it best with grilled shrimp and coconut milk. There's nothing like it: sitting outdoors, bathed by humid, tropical breezes, relaxing with friends, and enjoying the best the sea has to offer.
